As a wife and mom, I strive to fill our home with good-for-you foods and products. However, I like to do this in a balanced approach. I believe if we put too much stress on ourselves to make everything comply to "clean" living, it becomes just as toxic as those ingredients we are trying to avoid! For this reason, I advocate for slow, sustainable change, working at a pace that feels right for you. This is how I fell in love with nourishing foods and all things Purely Made.
You'll hear this many places: wellness is a journey. As cliche as it sounds, wellness truly has been a journey for me. It started when I was in middle school; I began feeling sick with almost everything I ate. My stomach would ache, my belly would become distended, and emotionally -- well, I just felt frustrated. This continued for several years into high school. Finally, I discovered the healing power of food.
My mom always made delicious, homemade meals for all TEN of us kids. However, I learned I needed to eat specific therapeutic foods to improve my health. So, instead of making special requests for my meals, I decided to take it upon myself to cook my own food. While my mom, of course, always offered to help, I truly enjoyed cooking; it brough about such a sense of fulfillment...creating something to satisfy my body and also heal it. And it did just that. I no longer constantly felt sick. I was able to experience just how good my body was designed to feel.
Fast forward to college. I discovered I had some pretty severe hormone imbalances. While this first felt like a setback, it only encouraged my passion to become stronger. I worked with a naturopathic doctor to balance my hormones, once again implementing therapeutic foods and herbs to help my body figure itself out. And, just like magic (with lots of dedication), it worked.
After college, I went on to earn my master's degree in human clinical nutrition with an emphasis on integrative health. I decided to turn my passion into my career. Meeting one on one with clients has brough me so much joy. I LOVE getting others excited about food; helping my clients realize food can and should be enjoyable while also nourishing. Helping clients break free from fad diets and restrictive mentalities is such a joy to witness.
